The Morning She Wouldn't Let Go

There's a drop-off that stayed with me.

Not the first one; though that one is hard enough. The one that stayed is the one that happened six weeks in, when I thought it was supposed to be easier by now.

When she knew where the port rack was. When she knew her teacher's name. When she could put her water bottle in its spot without being shown. When there was absolutely no logical reason for the tears, and yet there they were. And there I was. Standing just outside the door with nothing left in my hands and no idea how to walk away.

I left anyway. Because I had to. Because the teachers said she'd be fine.

But I thought about her all morning.

We made Tilly because of mornings like that one.

Tilly is a Little Lightkeeper — a tiny fairy who clips onto a backpack and goes wherever your child goes.

She carries an invisible ribbon. It doesn't break when you walk away. It doesn't stretch too thin. It just… holds.

That's the whole story. That's all she is.

A small, soft reminder that love doesn't stop at the school gate. That the connection between a parent and a child isn't something that switches off the moment you let go of their hand.

We didn't make Tilly to fix separation anxiety.

We're not going to tell you how to handle the drop-off, or give you five steps to a tear-free morning. You already know your child. You're already doing the work.

We made her because some feelings are too big for words, but just the right size for something small to hold.

A child who unzips her bag and sees Tilly clipped there is carrying something true: you're thinking about her too.

If your mornings look like this, and if you're the parent (like me) who drives away and checks your phone, just in case then this was made for you as much as for them.

The Tilly Comfort Bundle is a book and a pocket fairy, together. The book is called The Ribbon Between Us. You can read it the night before. You can read it after. You can read it on the hard days when the drop-off goes wrong and you need a reason to believe it will be okay.

It will be okay.

The ribbon holds.

Tilly is part of the Little Lightkeepers - a world of fairies built to help children feel safe, loved, and enough. Each one was made for a real feeling. This one was made for the school gate.
